Wabash - Washington Sewer Separation Project
The second phase of this extensive sewer separation project has been substantially completed. The entire project involved complete reconstruction and rehabilitation of storm and sanitary sewers along Wabash and Washington streets in Michigan City, as well as sewer rehabilitation work on surrounding streets.
The project also endowed all affected roadways and sidewalks within the project area with surface replacement and various enhancements, such as ADA plates and a pervious concrete, which offers aesthetically pleasing methods of stormwater infiltration.
The anticipated final cost for the entire project is approximately $8 million. The vast improvements to the municipal infrastructure and all of the associated roadway and surface enhancements provide a new streetscape that is beneficial to both residents of and visitors to Michigan City.
