Wabash Street Green Infrastructure Improvements Project, Michigan City Redevelopment Commission
This project is being constructed in 2015-2016 and takes place within the Haskell and Barker Historic District in downtown Michigan City, Indiana along Wabash Street from U.S. Highway 12 to 11th Street.
It includes replacement of existing curb and gutter, sidewalks and drives, and 27 new rain gardens to capture, treat and percolate street runoff, interpretive signage, irrigation, curb bump outs, pedestrian safety improvements, trees and landscaping, historic decorative signage and lighting, brick crosswalks, bike lanes, and asphalt resurfacing. Funding for the project was provided in part by the Lake Michigan Coastal Grant Program and Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (EPA).
